my youngest is hyper today and I am tired

Gasp… another day almost slipped by and now all I have is bad lighting to take pictures in.

Today’s photo is “phone”.  At first I wished I had a rotary dial wall mount phone that did a real jingly ring, preferably in green.  But I don’t so instead I shall tell you how much I am in love with my cell phone.

I love it with endless love.

It’s weird isn’t it?

But I need it like water.

Sleep hasn’t always come easy for me and the phone is my constant midnight companion.

I read books on it, watch instant Netflix, play words with friends…if we’re FB friends let’s play! I keep all my lists and ideas, read blogs, blah blah blah.  It’s really more a computer for me rather than phone as I live in the granite state (Live Free or Die!) and cellular service is very stinky but with wifi the possibilities are endless.  Like endless love.

It was an appropriate picture when I saw it on the table on top of my breakfast reading of 1974 Early American Life.  It’s nice when old meets new in a good way.  Not like those old guys that marry 24 year olds, that’s the not so good way.

day fourteen: heart

Today is a good reminder to love a little more.  We can all do that…sometimes it’s so hard to love.  I have always wondered why that is.  Some people have such tough skin and make you feel like love is a waste of time.  How I feel sorry for them!  Love isn’t about diamond earrings or boasting at work at how romantic you are.  It’s about looking into someone, the precious part of life that allows us to realize how vulnerable someone is and let them know we care…and always will.  It can be your spouse, your child or your neighbor.

Love should be the most real thing you ever feel.

If once a year we have to show it with flowers and silly candies then so be it!

035

I found an inappropriate candy heart in the jar today, so I did what a good wife should and texted a picture of it to my husband’s phone.  Oops, was that your work number?

I hope you have a happy heart this Valentine’s Day,  candy or no candy just know you’re sweet!

too busy to post

February is proving to be a much busier month than I anticipated.  I just needed to post a picture as our desktop homepage is set to my blog and I’m really tired of walking by and seeing that picture of me with the messy hair.

011

This is another image from an old children’s book I used as an iron on.  Transfer paper is available most places computer paper is sold.

I love cows in the meadow, they make the world seem lovelier.

This didn’t sound so bad two weeks ago

Day 10 (link to this here): self portrait

I’ve never been comfortable having my picture taken, I wish I could change this!  My girls are so photogenic and rarely do they have a bad photo.  As soon as I see someone point a camera at me I get squeamish.   How do I fix that?

For now I’ll hide behind my messy hair.

I won’t say anything negative about myself, even though I want to. For example I won’t mention the chins (plural).  And since I’m baring my face to y’all I might as well bare my belly.

There’s a baby in there!

three pictures-a-day in one day

Arghh to the last few days.

But I am here today and that’s what’s important, right?

These pictures are feeling rather silly, but I’ll try to keep on keepin on…

Tuesday: button

003

My great grandmother’s button jar.  It’s been part of my craft room decor for as long as I can remember.

Wednesday: sun

017 - Copy

When I think of the sun I almost always think of Texas.  And I came across this picture from last spring recently that makes me laugh.  Molly’s silly expression with the freckly nose, and her brother with the star sunglasses that at the time I really didn’t like.  Sometimes I miss the Texas sun but I suppose it’s one of those be-careful-what-you-wish-for-things, because we had plenty of it while we were there. PLENTY!

And today…Thursday: front door

010

This isn’t our front door.  Instead it’s another door on the house, I like the oldness of it.  I’m trying not to take our old house for granted, because, really, I like it a lot.  There’s some quirks I don’t like so much (the bathrooms! oi oi oi the bathrooms!) but for the most part I love the house and the dreaming of what to do that comes along with it.  I like all the doors and secrets it holds within, when I come home and open the door I feel a sense of peace.

See you tomorrow…I hope!

warm light and food

today’s photo: dinner

Stuffed shells, herb bread and broccoli

We ate earlier and I forgot to take a picture.  After taking this picture I spilled a big glob on the tablecloth. Sigh.

unfamiliar with oneself

While my photos for the photo challenge are far from professional, they make me think.

Today is day four and entitled “stranger”, I wasn’t sure what I was going to post when I found Sally O’Malley this morning  acting as if she found a strange cat in the woodstove room where I had conveniently stored an old mirror that was part of an auction lot.  She wasn’t too impressed with herself.

hands of the small kind

Day three: hands

Henry’s hands are much like his dad’s bear paws.  I love them.

day two: words

Today is day two of the photo challenge from fat mum slim

Words.

002

When Hadley was on her recent winter break here she did a whole bunch of puzzles.  Like so many it would freak your freak.  1000 pieces a day.  I thought maybe it was her brain’s way of unwinding after the demands of her jr year in college.  I ended up putting them all away except this one, I glued it and hung it on the wall…because of the words.

001

Eat laugh And Enjoy The Earth,

And feed your Love for All it’s Worth”

In our world where we count every calorie and berate ourselves for feeling carefree (work work work), this quote seems to capture it all for me.  It’s such a simple solution for all our emotional duress.

day one

I’m going to attempt to do this photo a day challenge from over here.  Today is called “your view”.

Today was spent in equal parts in the kitchen and the craft room.

002

No matter how outdated your kitchen is fresh flowers always make it feel better.  These made me happy many times today as my husband recognized that I was having one of those days yesterday.   And just when I was thinking he must think I am the most naggy pregnant woman in the world.  Having three teenagers sometimes can stress you OUT!
