Crayola color week: Chestnut

Every time I dust the brown mantle in our house I get the urge to paint it white.

It can make me in a bad mood just looking at it.

OOhhh, don't paint it!! If it were my house, I'd strip the white paint off the brick fireplace. It's a lovely mantle.

I actually like the contrast between the white firplace and dark mantle. Very pretty.

My feeling would be the same. I would either paint it white or black. Black gives it more contrast, and matches to everything, especially if other pieces of wood furniture.

I like chestnut and your mantle looks really nice in the photo!

You should do something so that you are not in a bad mood about your mantel :)

But...if you paint it white, then it will "disappear" -- do you want that?

And...what color are the walls? Not to be nosy or anything. But maybe they aren't contrasty enough?

But if you think painting it white would make you less grumpy, you should go for it!
