I finished a stack of shorts for my youngest daughter. Some are for sleep and some are for play. Paired with a feminine solid tee from Old Navy and that is pretty much her wardrobe for those lazy summer days at home. I am a big believer in play clothes. A few outfits to be wild in outside. Grass stains? Who cares! That dingy, gray, faded out bottom from sliding down the slide? That's okay!
I love the words "play clothes". It makes me think of outfits like this:
This reminds me of old birthday parties when the kids would be dressed up in their best clothes. How sweet would that be? I would love any excuse to buy Henry a gabardine suit with polka dotted tie. It would be the short version so he could wear cable knit knee socks and double buckle mary janes. I think I was born in the wrong era.

How cute! You found some wonderful fabrics for the shorts! I can remember making p j bottoms for my boys and using the same pattern for years...making them longer and longer! My sons were skinny!
Those are adorable shorts!! I, too, think I was born in the wrong era. I'm bidding on vintage McCoy pottery on ebay tonight, for example :)
I am in love with the shorts that you made, one design and color cuter then the other, and how precious to see them all hanging on the line like that. I like the word "play clothes" too cuz it reminds me of when I was a kid and my mom would make me up a batch of shorts just like these, and they meant that summer had arrived, care free days of playing in the woods and staying up late, and eating ice cream on the edge of the pool. Such good memories, and all brought about my your delightful pictures. What a delightful post!! Just goes to prove that all the simple pleasures in life are still just that, pleasures!! tthanks for sharing this with us. Debby
